This is What Collaboration Looks Like
I came across this performance the other night as I was perusing NPR's music website. The groove on the first tune is ridiculously good, but the performance also struck me as an analogy for what effective collaboration should really look like.
After all, collaboration is about knowing when to lead and when to follow. When to speak and when to listen. When to step out front, and when to support your colleagues from the background. It's about trust, both in your own abilities and in that of your colleagues. Allison Miller and her group Boom Tic Boom put that all into practice. Plus, we just have an affinity for groups with names containing explosive references.
Enjoy the music, and notice how all the musicians listen and watch each other. A great performance, and a great lesson in effective collaboration.
